Frequently asked questions

What is breathwork?

The breathwork done at Mind Body Connection Lab is a guided process that uses conscious breathing techniques to release stored tension and emotions in the body, promoting clarity, calm, and lasting growth.

Most major illnesses are due to inflammation. Breathwork has been showing great promise in addressing inflammation in the body, as it shifts the oxygen/carbon dioxide relationship and strengthens the system to work better all around.

Our method pulls from many different techniques that have shown effectiveness such as Holotropic Breathwork, Transformational Breathwork and Wim-Hoff, to name a few.

What is IFS (Internal Family Systems) work?

Inner child or IFS-informed parts work helps you gently understand and integrate the different parts of yourself that you may have been taught to ignore— especially those formed by early experiences. The better you understand yourself, the better you can respond to life with greater presence, emotional freedom, and self-leadership.

This work has been showing great shifts in helping people to understand the inner dynamics that shape the emotions, form our relationships and guide the nervous system. Parts-based approaches help to loosen the inner world to create a more compassionate relationship with self which then reflects with our relationship with others.

What can I expect in a session?

Each session will be different but they will have a similar structure. Sessions begin with a brief conversation to set intentions, followed by guided breathing in a safe, supportive environment. You may experience emotional release, deep relaxation, or new insights and together we will integrate that after your experience.

Is breathwork safe for everyone?

Breathwork is extremely safe, but I will always check in with you about any health conditions. Those with severe cardiovascular conditions should consult with their doctors first.

How should I prepare for a session?

Wear comfortable clothing, have water nearby, and if we are meeting via zoom, choose a quiet, comfortable space with a visual set-up that is conducive to me seeing you and your body while we are in session. Come with an open mind ready to see what can shift.
